Ascenta teams up with Trees for Cities
Ascenta, manufacturer of the highest quality omega-3 oil, NutraSea, now available in the UK, is partnering with Trees for Cities to further their efforts in bringing nature and people together.
Ascenta is the first natural health products manufacturer to join 1% for the planet, an organisation through which it donates 1% of its sales to environmental causes worldwide. Ascenta has chosen to make its donations, from UK generated sales, to London-based independent charity Trees for Cities.
Trees for Cities aims to improve the presence of trees and green urban spaces throughout the UK and the rest of the world. They are the perfect choice for Ascenta to join forces with, as protecting the environment is at the heart and soul of Ascenta’s business practises. Many other organisations typically make a commitment based on profits or a one-off gift, not as a fixed percentage of total revenue which is the case with Ascenta.
Sharon Johnson, Chief Executive of Trees for Cities says: ‘The partnership between Ascenta and Trees for Cities makes perfect sense as far as we are concerned. Ascenta’s progressive environmental policies are an ideal match for the work that we do in various communities. Their support is invaluable in helping us to grow and reach our goals of training, educating, campaigning and ultimately making a positive difference in urban spaces in the UK and around the world.’
To ensure what’s here today isn’t gone tomorrow, Ascenta only uses ingredients that have been sourced from sustainable, natural sources. The fish oil used to produce their omega-3 range NutraSea is derived from certified wild fish stocks, sustainably harvested and closely regulated and monitored by government authorities. Ascenta also does all it can to minimise employees’ impact on the environment, by advocating car sharing, cycling and walking to work, controlled office lights and temperatures, and minimal air travel.
All Ascenta’s products have recyclable packaging and corporate materials are produced on 100% recycled paper that is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, a non-profit organisation working for the responsible management of the world’s forests. All office printer paper is 100% recycled.

About Trees for Cities
Trees for Cities’ aim is to improve the presence of trees and other greenery in urban spaces where it is most needed, throughout the UK and the rest of the world. They run public consultation events to involve the community, teach school children about the importance of caring for their environment, train the unemployed providing qualifications and plant new woodlands, street trees, leafy play areas and community gardens. These initiatives allow whole communities to enjoy more greenery, as well as improving air quality, tackling climate change and creating space for wildlife.
